We often have to face the complex technical systems results along with new hazards, whenever we try to automate any simple and conventional production equipment like machine tools. This type of automation we can achieve through the use of computer numeric control (CNC) systems on machine tools which are known as CNC machine tools.
If we want to identify the potential issues in the automatic tools, we should analyze the various operating modes of each system. The earlier conducted analysis by the researchers indicates that there should be some difference between the normal operation and special operation.
Generally it is complex to explain the safety requirements and measures for CNC machines tools as there are too some regulations and standards which are specific to the equipment and also provide solutions.
- Proper trained operators: There is a technical process of controlling the motion parts and tools in the computer numerical control machining through the use of computer software which uses computer data. So the operators must be sufficiently trained for inspecting, maintaining and using the machine along with brand and controller type.
- Machine area should be obstacle free: Before initiating a machining or tooling process by the operators, they must inspect the machine in order to remove any hurdles or obstacle which may cause to hit someone. In addition to this, the path of the router should also be checked by the user for ensuring that there are no screws in the projects. The floor should also be cleared of dust and scraps for preventing possible accidents.
- Dry run is essential: There must be a trial run by the operator before beginning the actual process of CNC machining in order to ensure that all the moving parts are set and configured correctly. Most of the machines contain lock feature through which user can scan the program for mistakes.
- Dressing should be accordingly: At the time of operating machine, users should not wear gloves as well as jewelry as some of them can conduct electrical charges and has the chances to get caught in the machinery. Loose clothing should also be restricted as they can get pulled into the machinery.
Safety comes first in any workplace. So operators must consider all the safety features on the machine like curtain guards, contact mats and guard fencing etc.
